We realize that visiting a new place can be a scary experience, so we’ve tried to provide some information to make your visit as comfortable as possible. |
How to Get ConnectedDCC offers a full slate of ministries to the whole family. It is important to think of these opportunities, not as a list of “spiritual services” from which to pick and choose, but as available resources to help encourage you in your faith so that you are better equipped to join in Christ’s mission to see His Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Our desire is not to keep you busy with church activities, but to offer meaningful assistance so that you live out your faith 24/7 and serve others inside and outside the church as an expression of following Jesus by making His invisible Kingdom visible in our communities. You can learn about specific ministries by navigating our Website or contacting any of the staff or ministry coordinators of the church, each of whom would love to meet you and answer any of your questions. Four Keys For Adults to ConnectDCC has a number of specific ministries for you to plug into, but you may be wondering, “Among all the ministry opportunities available to me, where do I start? How, specifically, do I get connected and involved at DCC?” Along the path of helping people follow Jesus, we’d like everyone at DCC to take advantage of the following opportunities ... in no particular order. Discover Deer CreekThis 6-week seminar is a prerequisite for membership at DCC, but anyone who is interested in learning about the church should attend, regardless of whether you think you’re ready to join or not. This seminar will orient you to what DCC is all about, introduce you to various ministries for you and your family, allow you to meet our Senior Pastor and other newer people at the church, and orient you to other ways to connect to the people and ministries of DCC. To get on the list for the next upcoming seminar, email Christy Diamond. Christian Foundations GroupYou don’t have to be a Christian very long before you learn that we are encouraged to read and study the Bible, pray, share our faith, and a whole host of other basic activities of the Christian life. Yet, most people in the church today have never had anyone actually sit down with them and show them, step-by-step, the nuts-and-bolts of how to do those things, even though this is so critically important to faithfully following Jesus. After each Discover Deer Creek seminar, we form 12-week “Christian Foundations” groups guided by trained leaders that address these topics. We can’t stress enough how important it is to go through this process if you’ve never had formal training in all of these topics. To join the next group, sign up when it’s announced or contact Steve Sage to let him know you’re interested. Join a Life GroupThese small groups are the heart of the church and the primary place where spiritual growth occurs, friendships are formed, and ministry takes place. It is virtually the universal experience of people at DCC that the place where they have the deepest friendships, the closest connections, and the most consistent encouragement is in their life groups. We think everyone should be involved in one if they can possibly make it happen. Ministry InvolvementGod has designed every Christian in such as way that they have something meaningful to contribute to the Kingdom of God. It is essential for your own spiritual growth, as well as the growth of others, to express your talents and gifts in some form of ministry. This is the heart of our mission at DCC. Our “Gifts and Service” Seminar highlights the role of spiritual gifts, helps you discern how God has gifted you, and offers an orientation & personal consultation for ways that you can express your gifts at DCC. To learn more about any of these steps, including upcoming offerings, contact Steve Sage. Connecting Your Children & YouthIt is important for our children to belong to a group and feel that they are important and understood. We have opportunities where all children can become involved, and learn what it means to follow Jesus as a kid in today’s world.
