The Center for Faith & Work
Deer Creek participates in a growing network of churches and ministries throughout the Greater Denver area to help equip business people to live out a robust faith in the marketplace. More than merely thinking about their workplaces as a mission field, the Faith & Work Initiative seeks to affirm and develop people's occupational calling so that they see their work itself as a form of ministry in response to God's mandate to exercise dominion over his creation and create culture that furthers the common good of society.
Purpose & Goals
We seek to help business people:
- explore their calling (understanding the dignity of work as a meaningful ministry)
- engage their calling (understanding how to engage their vocation redemptively)
- expand their calling (understanding how to involve others)
The Center for Faith & Work's ministry goals are three-fold:
- Equip individuals to fully apply the gospel to their lives and develop a Christian worldview of their profession or industry.
- Connect professionals within their field in ways that inspire and challenge gospel-centered thinking and behavior.
- Mobilize our leaders to become agents of change for the common good inside existing institutions and by creating new ones.
Strategies
As participation in the network expands, the Center for Faith & Work envisions the following means to equip Christians for the marketplace:
- Faith & Work small groups in churches
- Seminars over breakfast or lunch
- Conferences
- Faith & Work Fellowship (a year-long training program)
- Mentoring
How to Get Involved
There are a number of ways to get involved:
- Participate in a Faith & Work small group at Deer Creek
- Connect with an Occupational Guild Group of business people throughout the city in your profession
- Attend upcoming Faith & Work events (seminars, conferences, etc.)
- Serve on the Steering Committee to help shape the Faith & Work Initiative's direction.
For any and all of these ways, contact Pastor Steve to learn more. Steve and others from our church serve on the Steering Committee for the Faith & Work Initiative which oversees the Center for Faith & Work.
