Global Missions

Jesus made it very clear that His Church is to join Him in His ongoing work to make His Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven (Matt 9:9-13). The scope of that work encompasses the entire world (Rev 7:9-10). In light of this Great Commission (Matt 28:18-20), DCC seeks to honor Jesus Christ through the growing involvement of our people in global missions and evangelism as an essential and vital component of what it means to follow Jesus.

A Priority

Leadership Support

Our goal is to make missions an increasingly integral part of the ministry of the church. Our leaders are committed to modeling broad support among the congregation. Pastors Duane and Steve seek to be as involved in various projects as possible. Furthermore, Chris Evans participates and involves the youth in missions and many of our elders participate in short-term projects, as well.

Focused Involvement

We recognize that our resources are limited, so we want to focus our global efforts on selected places/people in the world with whom we have relationships, and, in particular, among unreached people groups. Initially, these relationships will be with:

  • the missionaries we support, and
  • “partner fields”—ministries and missionaries who are specifically working to see church planting movements established among unreached people groups.

We can think of these two efforts in terms of:

  • broad engagement in global missions—wherever in the world our missionaries are found, and...
  • deep engagement in a specific ministry or mission field where our “partner fields” are located.

As we do this, we long to see our people changed, as well, as they gain a broader perspective on God’s Kingdom mission and are transformed by His Spirit through the relationships they have with these people across the globe and experiences they gain through their connection with them.

Our Four-fold Focus

DCC desires to focus our involvement in four key, strategic areas:

  1. Church Planting—the starting of new churches which are able to be self-supporting and have a vision for continuing the expansion of the Kingdom through ministries of word and deed, local and cross-cultural. This is the biblical strategy of the Book of Acts and the most strategic means for spiritual multiplication. (Goal: 50% of missions budget)

  2. Evangelism & Discipleship Ministries—ministries that extend the Kingdom through the proclamation of the gospel and build up believers through discipleship in the context of the Kingdom mission. (Goal: 20% of missions budget)

  3. Mercy/Social Justice—reflecting our Lord’s own example of ministering to the whole person to counter the effects of sin in the world and bring the blessings of His Kingdom reign to those in spiritual and physical need. (Goal: 20% of missions budget)

  4. Mobilization Ministries—ministries that serve to call the church to Kingdom mission, facilitate the church’s involvement in missional ministry, and equip God’s people for Kingdom service. (Goal: 10% of missions budget)

Want to Participate/Serve?

In order to facilitate the church’s involvement in a full-orbed missions ministry, we need people to help us mobilize and resource the church. We are constantly looking to include people in the following Missions Teams:

  1. Missionary Care Team: Develops ways to deepen the relationships between our missionaries and the congregation so that missionaries are known, actively cared for, supported (emotionally, prayer, financially), and encouraged by our people, and so that our people are encouraged and challenged to deeper involvement in God’s global mission.

  2. Myanmar Partner Team: Strategizes and facilitates DCC’s involvement with indigenous church planters, expatriate missionaries, the unreached of Myanmar, sister church partnerships, etc. for the purpose of developing church planting networks in Myanmar among unreached people groups.

  3. Communication Team: Creatively keeps the congregation informed and in the loop on what is happening with the missional nature of ministry at DCC, as well as the missions ministries locally, regionally, and globally through various forums (e.g., the annual banquet, print, video, Internet, newsletters, etc.).

  4. Executive Missions Team: Oversees the overarching administrative and financial aspects to the missions ministry.
