The Yale historian, Jerislav Pelikan, wrote:
Regardless of what anyone may personally think or believe about Him, Jesus of Nazareth has been the dominant figure in the history of western culture for almost 20 centuries. If it were possible, with some sort of super-magnet, to pull up out of that history every scrap of metal bearing at least a trace of His name, how much would be left?
Not much…that’s the point. We believe that Jesus has marked mankind precisely because He is unique…He is God’s one and only Son. What is more, He came to rescue us from our sin and brokenness and remake us from the inside out. This He did in His life, death and resurrection and in pouring out His Spirit upon the church. All of this we celebrate when we gather as a worshipping family to sing, pray, study, receive the sacraments, and apply the historic truths of our ancient faith in ways that will help us follow Jesus more fully and faithfully.
This is where we find life…true life! No where else. Jesus alone can satisfy the deep longings within the human heart. This is why we gather…this is why we exist…this is why we sacrifice ourselves in worship to the one and only King, King Jesus.
We not only wish to worship Him, but we understand that He sends us forth as His people, witnesses to all He’s done and is doing. We are His people, His ambassadors, His missionaries to our neighborhoods, places of work, schools, clubs, families and friends. What a privilege! What and honor! What a responsibility!
If you visit, it is our hope that you experience the power and presence of God as we focus our minds and hearts on worshipping and serving Him together. We’d be honored to have you as our guest and even more honored to have you join us in the mission to which Jesus has called us!
Sincerely,
