Serving on Sunday Mornings

When you serve on Sundays, you’re doing much more than filling a role; you’re becoming more a part of our community and extending ministry and hospitality to others.

Fill out our Sunday Services Form to let us know if you are interested in serving with any of the following ministry teams:

Hospitality Teams

Greeters:  These are usually the first people an attendee meets at Deer Creek. They offer a warm welcome, distribute bulletins, and help direct our guests to where they need to go. This is ideal for outgoing “people-persons” who can make people feel welcome and at home as they arrive to our service.

Ushers:  Our ushers help people find available seating, which is very important especially after the service starts, especially for guests who may feel uncomfortable walking down the aisles to find open seats. They also help collect the offering. This is ideal for people who are cool under pressure and can balance graciousness with assertiveness as they find seating for the arriving congregation.

Welcome Table:  These people greet guests to our worship service, answer questions, distribute literature, pass out free books to guests, help make connections to others at Deer Creek who direct ministries that the guests are interested in, and otherwise help our guests feel welcome and informed during their time with us.

Coffee Bar:  Our baristas provide an important hospitality service to everyone on Sunday mornings by keeping the coffee pots filled, making a full range of special order coffee and espresso drinks. Training is provided, and a schedule is kept to rotate people through to share the work load. This is a great way to make everyone’s experience on Sunday mornings enjoyable, and it goes a long way to facilitate community.

Children’s Ministry

Nursery Workers:  Our nursery workers provide an important service to parents by loving their children so the parents can focus on worshipping and/or serving in other ministries.

Children’s Learning Center Teachers:  It is the responsibility for our church community as a whole to come alongside parents and teach our children the Scriptures and how to follow Jesus. CLC teachers commit to monthly rotations throughout the year to nurture the faith of our kids and help them experience a positive sense of Christian community.

Worship Team

Vocalists & Instrumentalists:  Those with musical gifts and talents help lead our congregation in worship. Interested individuals will meet with our Worship Director to explore their skill level and where they would best fit on our Worship Team.

AV Technician:  Our sound board technicians and video/computer technicians facilitate all that happens in worship on Sunday morning. Training is offered on the hardware and software required to mix sound, project images, play DVDs and computer clips, and all other aspects involved.

Readers: These people read Scripture or lead through responsive readings during our worship service. Those who are comfortable up front and can read in a way that brings life to the text are ideal for this role.

Decorations:  Those with a creative sense of space, color, aesthetics, and furnishing are invited to meet with our Worship Director and Administrative Assistant to brainstorm ways to use the space in our lobby and sanctuary to facilitate worship and community. In additional to the general use of space, seasonal emphases and special events provide opportunities to use the space creatively to facilitate the larger purposes of season or event.
