We realize that visiting a new place can be a scary experience, so we’ve tried to provide some information to make your visit as comfortable as possible.

What to Expect on Sunday Mornings

What is worship like?

You can expect a relaxed atmosphere, upbeat music, and solid, biblical teaching. The service typically lasts an hour and fifteen minutes. Our worship style is primarily “contemporary” while seeking to respect, learn from, and incorporate aspects of how the church has worshipped throughout history. See our Philosophy of Worship for more information or, if you’d like, listen to a recent sermon ahead of time.

Will I have to speak, sign, give, or be singled out in any way?

No. We won’t ask you to identify yourself as new or a visitor. In an attempt to make ourselves available to you, you’ll have the opportunity to fill out an attendance slip if you wish to let us know you were here or desire specific information, but that is totally optional. You may remain anonymous if you wish to. If after several weeks you think you might want to get connected, we encourage you to introduce yourself to our staff and/or let us know you are here.

One aspect of our service is an opportunity for those committed to the church to give financially as an act of worship and devotion to God. This money supports the ministry of the church, including our service to our community and other parts of the world. This occurs during the “Offering” portion of the service. As a visitor, you are not expected to contribute any money to the church.

What should I wear?

We like to focus more on the people than on what they are wearing. Simply dress how you’re comfortable, and you will be fine. Most of us are pretty casual overall: people wear everything from jeans and a T-shirt to business casual.

What ministries occur on Sunday mornings?

Worship Services: 9:00 & 10:45

Children’s Ministries: The following ministries occur simultaneously with our worship services.
  • Nursery: Infants - 2 years old; located upstairs on the north end of the Lobby.
  • Children’s Learning Center (CLC): The CLC is our Sunday morning ministry to children and is part of the larger umbrella of children’s ministry called IMPACT. All CLC classes are downstairs.
  • Preschoolers: Classes are available during the entirety of both services.
  • K-6th Grade:
  • 1st Service (9:30): Dismissed from worship just prior to the sermon for age-appropriate teaching.
  • 2nd Service (10:45): Held during entire service and using a different curriculum from the 1st service, offering creative small group time and large group teaching and worship “kid style.”
Student Ministry: 10:45; downstairs, meet in Cafe
Junior & Senior High students meet downstairs in the Cafe and then break into Life Groups based on grade and gender. These groups facilitate friendship, worship, prayer, and Bible study, thus providing a significant forum for teaching our youth to follow Jesus (discipleship).

NOTE: Teen Life Groups do not meet on the first Sunday of the month.

Adult Learning Center (ALC): 10:45; downstairs in Classroom 12 (near Cafe)
The ALC provides “big picture” handles for people to better understand the Bible, the doctrines of our faith, and how to live them out in our world. There are two “tracks” of courses offered:
  • Foundations Series: Three courses are offered on a rotating basis every year that survey the Bible, overview what we believe, and teach participants how to study the Bible for themselves. These courses assume no prior knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Core Curriculum: A multi-year series of courses that goes into more depth by teaching through the whole Bible, important theological topics, and key topics for living the Christian life.
Suggestion for getting the most out of Sunday mornings: Take advantage of both the worship service and the educational opportunities at 10:45. If you have children, you can worship together in the 9:00 service (children up through 6th grade may be dismissed to go to the CLC classes during the sermon, or they can stay with you throughout the service) and then separate for the educational opportunities during the 10:45 service. The CLC is designed so that the kids K-6th grade receive a different lesson and their own worship service in the 2nd service—they will not receive a “repeat” lesson during the 2nd service if they attended CLC during the 1st service.
